Mapping GL Codes to SmartProperty Categories
SmartProperty organizes reserve activity by category (Roofing, Asphalt \& Concrete, Mechanical Equipment, and so on). The GL Categories tab connects your accounting platform's GL codes to those categories, so synced expenses roll up into the same structure as your reserve study.
Opening GL Categories¶
Open your property, select Connected Apps, then the GL Categories tab. Each row is a SmartProperty category with a field for the ledger codes assigned to it.
Assigning Ledger Codes¶
Select the category's ledger code field and choose one or more GL codes. A category can hold multiple codes, and you can remove a code from a category at any time.
Only GL codes configured as reserve expenses can be assigned to a category. If a code you expect is missing from the list, check its reserve configuration first:
- CINC: the Reserve designation on the GL Reporting tab.
- Vantaca: the fund's Reserve setting on the GL Funds tab.
Why This Matters¶
Category mapping is what lets synced expense data appear alongside your reserve study in reports. Unmapped codes still sync and appear in Transactions, but they won't roll up into category-level reporting.
